This website, cinemaweekender.com, is the official hub for National Cinema Weekend, taking place across the UK on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September 2026. We keep no accounts and ask you for no personal details of your own: there is no sign-up, no newsletter, and no form that asks for your name, email address or similar. The one place data about your visit is collected is the optional Meta and TikTok marketing cookies described below — and only if you agree to them.
National Cinema Weekend is organised by Cinema First (Company Number 4220649), registered in the United Kingdom at 22 Golden Square, London W1F 9AD. Cinema First is a Limited Company which brings together cinema operators and film distributors with the shared objective of promoting cinema-going in the UK.
When we say “National Cinema Weekend”, “we”, “our” or “us” in this policy, we mean Cinema First, and represent its members, or any one member, as the context requires. The National Cinema Weekend website is managed by Cinema First, powered by CineOS, and receives its film showtimes data from International Showtimes.

The hub exists to do one thing: help you find films and participating cinemas near you for National Cinema Weekend, and then send you to the cinema’s own website to book. We never take your booking or payment, so we never see your card details, and we keep no accounts or contact details for you.
We do run a paid advertising campaign for National Cinema Weekend, and to measure it we use marketing cookies from Meta and TikTok — but only if you consent, and you can reject them or change your mind at any time. If you reject, those pixels never load. We do not sell or rent information about you. There is more on cookies, and how to change your choice, in our Cookie Policy.
Searching for films and showtimes. You can type a natural-language search, for example “Saturday 5 September, drama near N12”, and the hub returns real showtimes at participating cinemas. To understand which features people use, spot problems and prevent abuse of the search, we keep a minimal log of the text you type together with a one-way, irreversible hashed identifier (see “IP addresses” below). These logs are not linked to your name or identity and cannot be used to identify you. Because the search box simply passes your words to the hub, please do not type personal information into it; it is a film-and-cinema search, not a contact form.
Finding your nearest cinema (the one location exception). If you choose the “near me” option, your browser will ask your permission to share your location. If you allow it, your device’s approximate location is used in your browser to centre the map and work out which cinemas are closest to you. This location is used to answer your request and is not stored on our servers. You can decline, and instead type a postcode or place name to search by area. You can turn location access on or off at any time in your browser or device settings.
The cinema map, films and trailers. The map is drawn using imagery from a third-party mapping provider; film information and posters come from a third-party film database; and trailers play through YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player, which only loads if you choose to press play. Browsing these does not require you to share any personal information. See “Who processes information for us” below.
Clicking through to a cinema. When you click a showtime or booking link, we record that a click happened (for example which showtime was clicked, the time, and the same hashed identifier) so we can measure how many people the hub sends to cinemas. This is aggregate performance measurement, not tracking of individuals. Once you land on the cinema’s website, that cinema’s own privacy policy and terms apply, and we have no control over how it handles your data.
To promote National Cinema Weekend we run paid advertising on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok. If — and only if — you accept these cookies on our consent banner, we load the Meta Pixel, the TikTok Pixel, Google Analytics and Google’s advertising tags (Campaign Manager, for our Google and YouTube ads). These set their own cookies and share information about your visit (such as the pages you view, your device and a cookie or advertising identifier, and your IP address) with Meta and TikTok, so they can report on how our advertising performed and help us reach relevant audiences. Our legal basis for these cookies is your consent; you can withdraw it at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, and if you reject or withdraw, the pixels do not load. Like almost every website, our hosting and security provider processes the IP address your device uses to connect, in order to deliver pages to you and keep the service secure. In the small logs we keep (searches and click-throughs, described above), we do not store your raw IP address. Instead we store a salted one-way hash of it, a scrambled value that cannot be reversed back into your IP address or used to identify you. We keep it only to tell repeat activity apart and to protect the service from abuse. Under data protection law a hashed identifier of this kind may still count as “pseudonymised” data, so we treat it carefully, keep it to a minimum, and delete it on the schedule below. If you accept marketing cookies, Meta and TikTok separately receive your IP address as part of their pixels, as described above.
The hub uses a small number of strictly-necessary cookies to run and secure the site (including one that remembers your cookie choice), and, only with your consent, analytics and marketing cookies from Meta, TikTok and Google. We show a consent banner so you can accept all, reject all, or choose, and you can change your choice at any time. Full detail is in our Cookie Policy.
We use a small number of reputable providers to run the hub and, with your consent, to measure our advertising. They act on our behalf or provide content and services your browser loads:
When you follow a link to a participating cinema’s website, that is a separate organisation with its own privacy policy and cookies, over which we have no control. Some providers may process data outside the UK; where that happens, appropriate safeguards (such as the UK’s approved transfer mechanisms) are relied upon.
We do not: create accounts or ask you to log in; collect your name, email, phone number or postal address; or sell or rent any information about you. We only set marketing cookies, and only load the Meta and TikTok advertising pixels, if you consent — and you can withdraw that consent at any time.
We keep the minimal search and click-through logs only for as long as we need them to run and improve the service and protect it from abuse, and for no longer than 12 months, after which they are deleted or fully aggregated into anonymous statistics. As National Cinema Weekend is a fixed, short calendar event, we expect to remove or anonymise event-specific logs shortly after it has finished. Data collected by the Meta and TikTok pixels is retained by those platforms under their own policies.
National Cinema Weekend is a general-audience event and this site is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Under UK data protection law you have rights over your personal data, including to access it, correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to or restrict how it is used, as well as to withdraw consent to marketing cookies at any time. Because the hub is designed not to hold information that identifies you, in most cases we will hold nothing we can connect to you as an individual, which may mean we are unable to link a request to a specific person. Even so, if you have a question or concern, contact us at support@cineos.co and we will help where we can. You also have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if the hub gains new features. When we do, we will change the “last updated” date at the top.
